Frequently Asked Questions

There are times when we will need to review your medication. This means that sometimes your repeat medication doesn’t appear on some of the online services to order (such as Airmid/SystmOnline/NHS App).

If you use SystmOnline/Airmid you can still order online but you will need to use the custom request box and type the items required. If a review is required, our Clinical Pharmacists will be in touch.

This is a common statement from many patients however, what many patients are unaware of is that a telephone call is still classed as a consultation. This time still has to be factored into a clinicians daily clinic availability. Our available appointments are flexible and if you feel you would prefer a telephone call rather than coming into surgery, we can arrange this if appropriate.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to speak to a clinician without an appointment. In some circumstances our Care Navigation Team may be able to pass on some information if they feel it is appropriate.
We often hear this comment. Here are some examples as to why:

– The waiting room can be busier at different points during the day.

– Some patients may be waiting in our downstairs area for appointments.

– Generally if our clinicians are running to time then there may only be a couple of patients before you awaiting their appointment.

– Some patients prefer or are offered a telephone consultation, meaning they don’t need to attend the Surgery.

– It might be lunchtime when the majority of clinicians are taking a well earned break before beginning their afternoon clinics. The time between & after clinics is also when our clinicians complete their admin such as writing referrals, actioning hospital letters, filing blood results, processing prescription queries etc. This is also the time when home visits are made.
Patients that are eligible for certain vaccines will be notified. The criteria can change year on year. If you meet the criteria then our Care Navigation Team will be able to view this information from your records and book you the relevant appointment.
If you are travelling to a country where you think you may need vaccines then please allow at least 6 weeks for us to review your requirements. We can send a travel questionnaire in most instances by SMS to a mobile phone number. Once received back, our nurses will be in touch with any vaccinations you may require. In some circumstances when demand is high we may ask you to go to a Private Travel Clinic. Please note some vaccines are not available on the NHS.
